Description
An infrared trichrome photograph of Montmorency Falls near Québec City, Québec, with the suspension bridge spanning the top of the dramatic waterfall. Created from three separate exposures on infrared film and combined through red, green and blue channels, the surrounding foliage is transformed into vivid crimson and pink while the constantly flowing water changes position between each exposure. These successive moments produce subtle bands of RGB colour throughout the falling water and mist, allowing the trichrome process to make the movement of the waterfall visible within a single still photograph. Small figures crossing the suspension bridge also separate into traces of colour, contrasting human movement with the immense scale and continuous motion of the falls. This fine art photograph combines infrared film photography, RGB trichrome technique, long-exposure waterfall photography and Québec landscape photography to create a distinctive interpretation of Montmorency Falls.
