Description
An infrared trichrome photograph of the Toronto Hydro building at College Street and University Avenue in downtown Toronto. Created from three separate exposures on infrared film and combined through red, green and blue channels, the photograph uses the building’s sweeping reflective glass façade to capture the movement of clouds across both the sky and the architecture. As the clouds shift between exposures, they separate into vivid layers of colour that appear directly overhead and again as fragmented reflections across the dark glass, while infrared film transforms the surrounding trees into brilliant pink and crimson foliage. The trichrome technique turns the reflective architecture into a record of changing light, movement and time, contrasting the fixed geometry of the Toronto cityscape with the constantly changing sky.
