Description
An infrared trichrome photograph of downtown Toronto at College Street and University Avenue, using the reflective glass architecture of the city to multiply the movement and colour of clouds across the urban landscape. Created from three separate exposures on infrared film and combined through red, green and blue channels, clouds moving between exposures separate into vivid layers of colour across the sky and are echoed in the reflections of the surrounding glass buildings. Pedestrians moving through the three exposures similarly appear as overlapping, semi-transparent figures, recording successive moments of activity at street level. The trichrome process transforms a single Toronto streetscape into a layered study of motion, reflection and time, contrasting the permanence of the architecture with the constantly changing sky and movement of people through the city.
