Description
A three-hour exposure traces the apparent rotation of the night sky above a stand of eastern white pines near Ontario’s Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Preserve. Photographed on Kodak T-MAX 100 film with a Hasselblad 500C/M, the camera was oriented toward the celestial pole, transforming the movement of the stars into concentric arcs across the square frame. The silhouetted pines anchor the composition against the immense circular movement overhead, while a foreground branch reaches into the frame from the right. The long exposure compresses several hours of time into a single image, revealing motion in a sky that ordinarily appears still.
