Sunset over the Sandia Mountains

Description
The Sandia Mountains recede into the distance beneath an expansive evening sky near Albuquerque, New Mexico. As the sun sets, successive ridgelines dissolve from deep shadow into increasingly delicate shades of blue, while a narrow band of warm light remains along the horizon. Heavy clouds frame the softer light below, giving the landscape a sense of both scale and quietness. The composition relies on layers of atmosphere, colour and silhouette, allowing the mountains to gradually disappear into the desert distance.
