Magnolia Decay VIII

Description
Stripped almost entirely to its vascular structure, a skeletonized saucer magnolia leaf stretches diagonally across the frame. The central vein becomes a strong dividing line from which thousands of progressively finer veins spread outward, creating a dense organic network against the black background. At this final stage, decay has removed almost everything normally associated with the surface of a leaf while revealing the extraordinary structure that had always existed beneath it. Photographed with a Hasselblad 500 C/M and 120mm Makro-Planar lens on Kodak T-MAX 400 film.
