Magnolia Decay II

Description
As decomposition progresses, larger areas of this saucer magnolia leaf have disappeared, revealing the branching vascular structure beneath its surface. The prominent central vein divides the leaf while patches of remaining tissue create an irregular pattern of light and dark, marking an intermediate stage between an intact leaf and its eventual skeleton. Photographed with a Hasselblad 500 C/M and 120mm Makro-Planar lens on Kodak T-MAX 400 film.
