Magnolia Decay VI

Description
At the culmination of the decay progression, almost all of the soft tissue of this saucer magnolia leaf has disappeared. What remains is its vascular architecture: a strong central vein branching into progressively finer lines until the entire leaf becomes an extraordinarily delicate natural lattice. Against the black background, structure that was once largely concealed becomes the subject itself. Photographed with a Hasselblad 500 C/M and 120mm Makro-Planar lens on Kodak T-MAX 400 film.
