Corks

Description
A macro study of wine-stained corks transforms an everyday object into a composition of colour, pattern and texture. Seen end-on, the repeated circular forms create a loose geometric structure, while shades of burgundy, violet, rose and ochre reveal the traces left behind by different wines. Cracks, grain and other imperfections break the repetition, giving each cork an individual character within the larger pattern. This image explores the unexpected visual richness found in ordinary materials.
