Gateway to Power

Description
Gateway to Power is a minimalist black-and-white photograph of a high-voltage electrical transmission tower, photographed on Kodak T-Max 400 film with a Hasselblad 500 C/M medium-format camera. Set against a nearly featureless white sky, the steel lattice tower and suspended power lines are reduced to stark geometric forms, with the cables converging toward the centre of the composition like a gateway. The strong symmetry, expansive negative space and fine linear detail transform a piece of electrical infrastructure into an abstract architectural study. This medium-format film photograph combines minimalist photography, industrial landscape, power transmission infrastructure and geometric abstraction. This image was taken on film. This image showcases the flowing wires, almost like sun rays, shooting forth across the sky. This image was an honourable mention in the Monochrome Photography Awards, 2023 in the fine art, amateur category.
